Cheese Kransky Mac & Cheese (Ultimate Comfort Food Recipe)


This cheese kransky mac and cheese is rich, cheesy and built for comfort — made using The Lucky Pig’s in-store cheese kransky.

Ingredients

  • 500g macaroni pasta
  • 2 The Lucky Pig cheese kranskies, sliced
  • 2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • 3 cups milk
  • 60g butter
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook sliced kransky in a frying pan over medium heat until lightly browned, then set aside.
  4. For the béchamel, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring continuously to form a smooth paste.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk, a little at a time, ensuring the mixture stays smooth. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheese until fully melted and smooth. Add chopped parsley and season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  7. Add macaroni and kransky to a baking dish. Pour sauce evenly over the dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and extra parsley.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  9. Remove from oven, scatter with fresh parsley and serve hot.
