Originally established in 2015, the business entered a new chapter in 2022 when it was rebranded as The Lucky Pig. While the name changed, the focus remained the same: quality meat, genuine service, handcrafted products and supporting the local community.
Today, The Lucky Pig combines traditional butchery with modern convenience, offering in-store shopping, online ordering, local delivery, practical cooking advice and a growing library of recipes for home cooks.

Over the years, we have contributed to local schools, kindergartens, sporting clubs, community groups and fundraising events throughout Bentleigh and surrounding suburbs. This has included support for Brighton Secondary College, McKinnon Secondary College, McKinnon Kindergarten, Bentleigh West Kindergarten, Centenary Park Tennis Club, local sporting groups, community events and meat trays for local venues.

Creating Local Jobs Since 2015
One of the contributions we are most proud of is not measured in awards or sales.
Since 2015, The Lucky Pig and its predecessor business have provided employment and training opportunities to more than 100 local young people.
For many of those employees, their first shift at the butcher shop was their first experience in the workforce. We help young people develop practical life skills including communication, teamwork, punctuality, customer service, responsibility and workplace professionalism.
Many former staff members have gone on to successful careers across a range of industries, while others have completed formal apprenticeships and continued within the meat industry.
Investing in the next generation is part of what being a local business means to us.
Handcrafted Products Made In-House
We are passionate about producing quality products with care, consistency and attention to detail.
Our team prepares a wide range of products in-house, including handcrafted sausages, schnitzels, aged beef, award-winning kabana, bacon, cheese kransky, frankfurts, kassler steaks, ham hocks, Christmas hams and ham sliced fresh to order.
This hands-on approach allows us to control quality from start to finish and produce food we are proud to put our name on.

That is why we have invested in practical cooking resources for local families and home cooks, including recipes, product guides, cooking tips and our Ask the Butcher educational content.
