Big news this week — The Lucky Pig Butchery was featured in The Age as part of their story on Melbourne’s most popular shopping strips.
According to real estate agency Fitzroys’ Walk the Strip report, Centre Road, Bentleigh now has the lowest vacancy rate of any major shopping strip in Melbourne — just 1%. That’s a big win for the local community and small businesses who’ve worked hard to make this area one of the most vibrant and connected in the city.
“More often than not, the traders will know your name,” said Luke Iles, owner of The Lucky Pig Butchery, explaining that the personal connection between traders and customers keeps people coming back and encourages new businesses to set up nearby.
That’s something we’ve always believed here at The Lucky Pig — it’s not just about the meat; it’s about the people. Bentleigh’s got a strong community spirit, and we’re proud to be part of what makes it special.

Local pride, real flavour
From artisan butchers and cafés to bakeries and specialty stores, Centre Road’s success comes from local businesses working together. The energy and variety make it a destination, not just a pit stop.
We’ve definitely noticed the uptick in foot traffic and community engagement, especially as more people rediscover the charm of shopping local.
If you’re nearby, come down and see what makes Bentleigh one of Melbourne’s most loved strips. You’ll find us right in the heart of it all.
